About the session 

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is rapidly transforming weather prediction and early warning services, offering new opportunities to improve forecast production, timeliness, and decision-making. 

Malawi is among the first countries to pilot AI-based weather prediction through the support of the CREWS Accelerated Support Window (ASW). The pilot is generating practical lessons on how AI can support National Meteorological and Hydrological Services (NMHSs) and contribute to the implementation of Early Warnings for All (EW4All). The session will present the technical approach behind the AI pilot, early experiences from implementation, and lessons that can inform the adoption of AI-enabled forecasting across Least Developed Countries (LDCs) and beyond. 

The discussion will also  showcase progress across the  broader, coordinated investment strategy that includes CREWS Malawi Phase 1, the SOFF, and the country's preparation of CREWS Malawi Phase 2 and a Green Climate Fund (GCF) funding proposal.
