The Study Group on Renewable Energy Transition (SG-RENE), established under Resolution 63 (Cg-17), supports WMO Members in developing sustainable energy pathways. Its purpose is to promote the transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy, enhance energy efficiency, and strengthen resilience of renewable energy systems against climate variability and climate change impacts, in line with global policy goals such as the Paris Agreement.
