The Standing Committee on Climate Services (SC-CLI) fosters climate services across all timescales, ensures flagship products align with IPCC methods, and guides data management and standardized climate data generation. It supports Regional and National Climate Outlook Forums, strengthens country-level services via GFCS, advises on tools, communication, and quality standards, builds capacity in climate prediction and literacy, and promotes data rescue and preservation of historical climate records.

At its first meeting in 2020, the First Session of the Commission for Weather, Climate, Water and Related Environmental Services and Applications (SERCOM) decided to establish the Standing Committee on Climate Services (SC-CLI) for the first intersessional period (2020-2024).
SC-CLI has been reestablished at the SERCOM-3 session held in Bali, Indonesia, in March 2024. It is composed of members from all WMO Regions, selected from the WMO Expert Network by the President of the Commission.
