Advisory Group on Volcanic Science for Applications

The Advisory Group on Volcanic Science for Applications (AG-VSA) gathers information, provides expert advice, and fosters coordination across the fields of atmospheric and volcanological sciences and their related applications, to support aeronautical meteorological services and to inform decisions by ICAO and other relevant aviation stakeholders within the framework of the International Airways Volcano Watch (IAVW).

Purpose

To gather information, provide expert advice and foster coordination in the combined fields of atmospheric and volcanological science and associated applications to support aeronautical meteorological service provision as well as informed decisions by ICAO and other relevant aviation stakeholders in the context of the international airways volcano watch (IAVW).

Reports

The AG-VSA convenes quarterly video-teleconferences and, when required, periodic face-to-face meetings. The reports arising from the face-to-face meetings are publicly available here
