Climate-informed decision-making
This focus area aimed to strengthen climate-informed decision-making by improving the generation, delivery, application, and mainstreaming of climate information and services across the African, Caribbean, and Pacific (ACP) regions.
Throughout project implementation, a wide range of knowledge products was developed and disseminated to relevant stakeholders to enhance their technical capacities and promote the uptake of climate services. These efforts also supported the integration of climate services into national and regional policies, plans, and programmes, while raising awareness through regional and global platforms.
Capacity development was a key component of the project. Staff from National Meteorological and Hydrological Services (NMHSs) and Regional Climate Centres (RCCs) benefited from numerous technical and policy-oriented workshops and training programmes. In addition, decision-makers and policymakers received targeted training to strengthen their understanding and use of climate information in planning and decision-making processes.
To further facilitate the uptake and operational use of climate services, the Climate Services Toolkit was deployed. In addition, several regional workshops and annual fora were organized to foster knowledge exchange, strengthen partnerships, and share experiences and best practices among stakeholders.
The project also supported participating focus countries in operationalizing National Frameworks for Climate Services (NFCSs). This included the development of decision-support tools and communication products, as well as the implementation of socio-economic benefit analyses to demonstrate the value of climate services for different sectors.
