WCM Hazard Calendar

World map showing tropical cyclone tracks (1950–2023), historical landfall points, cyclone classifications, and a seasonality calendar, for humanitarian agencies as of March 2024.

For Tropical Cyclones (TCs)

In 2024, WCM has developed the first WCM Hazard Calendar for Tropical Cyclones, co-designed with UNHCR with contributions from WMO Secretariat, WMO Tropical Cyclone Program (TCP), Advisory Group on TCs,  Regional Specialized Meteorological Centres (RSMCs) / Tropical Cyclone Warning Centres (TCWCs) and the Federal Office for Meteorology and Climatology MeteoSwiss (Weather4UN Pilot Project).

This product includes:

  • TC tracks of the last 30 years, using the NOAA's International Best Track Archive for Climate Stewardship (IBTrACS) data,
  • UNHCR locations of forcibly displaced persons,
  • Hyperlinks to the RSMCs and TCWCs (for authoritative TC information),
  • Relevant TCs information and useful links,
  • TC classification in the various basins (as table),
  • Calendar of the typical TC activity in the various basins, including the peak of the season.
