Secretariat Youth Focal Point

Overview

A large group of people, including several formally dressed individuals in front, pose together in a modern, multi-level indoor setting.

The WMO Youth Network is supported at the Secretariat level by Unit and Departmental Youth Focal Points, as well as a Secretariat Youth Coordinator who ensures overall coherence and coordination across all levels.

Secretariat Youth Focal Points are designated internally to support the implementation of youth-related commitments and to strengthen engagement between the Secretariat and the WMO Youth Network.

What does a Youth Focal Point do?

Youth Focal Points are WMO staff members who play a key role in advancing youth engagement across the organization. They:

  • Support the implementation of the WMO Youth Action Plan within their respective department, division, or office;
  • Act as a bridge between their unit and the WMO Youth Network, ensuring effective two-way communication and collaboration;
  • Identify and promote opportunities to integrate youth perspectives into programmes, projects, and activities;
  • Contribute to coordination, reporting, and alignment of youth-related priorities across the Secretariat;
  • Engage in youth-focused initiatives, events, and dialogues, as relevant to their area of work.
