WMO Workshops on Operational Climate Prediction

Since 2015, WMO has initiated a series of International Workshops on Operational Climate Prediction (OCP) to foster collaboration between, and among the research and operational communities.

The workshops are an important platform to review advances in climate prediction science and forecast infrastructure, identify operational opportunities and challenges, and strengthen linkages across the research-to-operations and operations-to-research continuum.

The OCP series also serves to facilitate and scale up the consolidation of WMO’s efforts to support the cascading system of operational climate prediction from global to local scales, through the WMO Integrated Processing and Prediction System (WIPPS) and Climate Services Information System (CSIS).

Climate services
Our mission is to support WMO Members to develop and deliver high-quality climate services that enhance data-driven science-based policymaking and climate risk management.
The WMO Climate Services Information System (CSIS) is the principal mechanism through which information about climate – past, present and future – is routinely produced, archived, analysed, modelled, exchanged and processed.
The WMO Integrated Processing and Prediction System (WIPPS) facilitates the utilisation of advancements in Numerical Weather Prediction by providing a framework for sharing data related to operational meteorology, hydrology, oceanography and climatology.
