INFCOM contributes to the development and implementation of globally coordinated systems for acquiring, processing, transmitting, and disseminating Earth system observations, and related standards; coordination of the production and use of standardized analysis and model forecast fields; and development and implementation of sound data and information management practices for all WMO Programmes and their associated application and services areas.

About INFCOM
The Commission for Observation, Infrastructure and Information Systems (INFCOM) is one of WMO’s two technical commissions, established by Congress through Resolution 7 (Cg-18). INFCOM develops and oversees globally coordinated systems for observing, processing, and exchanging Earth system data across weather, climate, water, and related environmental domains. It ensures interoperability through common standards, supports data quality and information management, and advances technological innovation via its standing committees on observing systems, instrumentation, data processing, and information management. INFCOM works closely with SERCOM, the Research Board, and regional associations to strengthen WMO’s global infrastructure and enhance Members’ capacity to deliver reliable, science-based services.
