Online workshop on Regional WIGOS Centre (RWC) Audit Program and Audit Criteria

Background

The Regional WIGOS Centres (RWCs) audit process (Resolution 12), https://library.wmo.int/doc_num.php?explnum_id=11008 was approved by the seventy-third session of the Executive Council (EC-73) which was held remotely from 14 to 25 June 2021. It covers the process for designation, assessment and reconfirmation of Regional WIGOS Centres (RWC). Furthermore, audit criteria developed by the WMO Secretariat were reviewed by the Expert Team on WIGOS Tools (ET-WT) of INFCOM Standing Committee on Earth Observing Systems and Monitoring Networks (SC-ON), applied for auditing RWCs in RA II.

The Expert Team on WIGOS Tools (ET-WT) of INFCOM Standing Committee on Earth Observing Systems and Monitoring Networks (SC-ON) revised the RWC audit criteria and developed a draft audit program following a gap analysis result prepared by the Expert Team on Audit and Certification (ET-AC) of INFCOM Standing Committee on Information Management and Technology (SC-MINT). The revised audit criteria and draft audit program were introduced and discussed at the RWC Global Workshop which was held in Geneva from 25 to 27 July 2022. The workshop recommended to organize a follow-up workshop or meeting between ET-WT and ET-AC on RWC audit program and criteria.

Expected Outcomes

The expected outcomes of the workshop are:

  • Common understanding of the needs of ET-WT and ET-AC to prepare the audit criteria and program for conducting audits at RWCs
  • The RWC audit program (esp. identifying and understanding the audit objectives, preliminary schedule, roles) and audit criteria (incl. development/improve of questionnaire and information about expected evidences)
  • Other supporting tools to perform audit for RWCs can be identified and prepared

Participants

Members of Expert Team on Audit and Certification (ET-AC), Expert Team on WIGOS Tools (ET-WT) and relevant Secretariat staff are invited to attend the workshop
