Fifth Session of the Research Board (RB-5)

Overview

The fifth session of the Research Board (RB-5) was held in Geneva, Switzerland from 29 to 30 September 2022. This was the first in-person session since the RB was established in 2019 and it provided an important opportunity for members to meet in-person, share updates on relevant activities, review and discuss the current Terms of Reference and brainstorm ideas for a workshop based on existing concept notes developed by the Research Board.

 

Summary of Key Outcomes

  1. endorsement of the new World Weather Research Programme Implementation Plan 2024- 2027;
  2. decision to take the lead on the Unified Data Policy Task #4 regarding data exchange with the research community;
  3. decision to draft a statement of support for the work of the Global Atmosphere Watch Research Programme;
  4. decision to create a working group to plan and implement a series of workshops that bring together and advance insights from the Science for Services and Innovation in Regions concept notes; and
  5. revision of the Research Board Terms of Reference based on discussions during the session.
