eLUNa

eLUNa (electronic Languages of the United Nations application) is a computer-assisted translation tool used in WMO. It is composed of several textbases containing WMO translated documents and publications. The translation interface allows users to retrieve already-translated segments, offers a terminology detection tool and the possibility to use machine translation for new segments.

Access

Its access is password protected and is available only to LSP linguistics staff and external translators/editors. If you do not yet have access to it, please contact lsu[at]wmo.int.

As of December 2024, the access to eLUNa has changed. LSP linguistic staff and external translators/editors should click on "Sign in with your WMO ID" on the login page.

Guidelines

When using eLUNa, bear in mind the following information:

Expiration date: Once a document is uploaded in eLUNa, it has an expiration date. If no change is made to the document, it expires after 7 days, which means you cannot work on it any more, but it is still possible to download your translation for 2 more days. After that the file is deleted forever. If you stop working one a downloaded document for some time, to prevent its deletions, just go in the file once or twice a week, modify something (adding a comma for example, that you can remove later) and click on Apply. By applying a new segment, the expiration date is reset for 7 new days.
