Mission
WxMOD aims to promote scientific practices in weather modification research through its activities and through the organization of scientific conferences or sessions on weather modification.
- WxMOD ET should provide scientific oversight and guidance: Continuously review and advise on intentional and inadvertent weather modification research, ensuring scientific integrity from experiment design to evaluation, incorporating advances in cloud physics and dynamics, atmospheric chemistry, and numerical modelling, and the use of Artificial Intelligence as relevant.
- WxMOD ET should build capacity amongst members: Act as a focal point for assisting WMO Members in planning and executing scientific experiments, including the transfer of technical competence and development of training materials.
- WxMOD ET should disseminate knowledge and give input to policy: Contribute to WMO documents on weather modification status and guidelines, proposing updates as needed, and provide expert advice to Members and stakeholders.
- WxMOD ET should communicate and collaborate: Promote research and education through organizing scientific conferences, workshops, and sessions, and encourage collaboration across related WWRP activities (e.g., InPHRA project, Tropical Cyclones and Urban-PREDICT project etc.), as well as encourage collaboration that promotes research and best practices regarding ethics, societal perceptions and impacts, and socioeconomic aspects of weather modification.
