Fourth Meeting of the RA VI HydroSOS Team- Highlights
The fourth meeting of the Team reviewed HydroSOS implementation progress and follow-up from the February RA VI Hydrology Advisers Forum with focus on HydroSOS.
Key discussions covered membership updates, governance, data developments (metadata standardization, snow data integration), and regional integration efforts like the Sava River Basin.
Feedback from a Hydrological Advisers quiz identified needs for clearer roles, operational guidance, training, system integration support, and better communication. In response, a Q&A draft document was prepared to assist national HydroSOS implementation.
Updates from the HydroSOS Global Support Team included finalizing guidance materials, data methodologies, and a standardized data submission checklist. A training plan combining online and in-person sessions is in development, with coordination ongoing with regional training centers. Integration efforts include HydroSOS incorporation into Delft-FEWS software and potential plugins for other WMO systems. Data sharing mechanisms are being enhanced, including API adaptations and manual upload options.
Discussion continues on developing hydrological outlook products and the best approach of including HydroSOS products in RCC Climate Advisories.
Pilot projects in Romania, Sweden and Sava River Basin are advancing. New pilot has been discussed for the Iberian Peninsula.
The HydroSOS Action Plan is under review; some tasks extended to year-end.
Regular quarterly meetings continue, with the next session scheduled post-summer and key discussions planned for EC-79 in Geneva.
