RA VI Management Group Ninth Meeting- Key Highlights
The RA VI Management Group held its ninth meeting to review regional progress and finalize the 2025 work plan. The group approved the use of the WMO Planner Tool for improved coordination and welcomed Germany’s support for enhancing the WMO Experts Database. Updates were also provided on expert nominations and the structure of RA VI working mechanisms.
Early warning and hazard monitoring were key topics, with floods identified as the top priority. The group supported the launch of the High-Level Task Team on Early Warning for All and the phased rollout of RBON, starting with flood monitoring. MG took note that RA VI Members were encouraged to nominate focal points for data quality monitoring and to support the development of Regional WIGOS Centres.
Additional discussions covered the 2024 European State of the Climate Report, RA VI Regional Climate Center expansion, and the Agrometeorological Centre initiative. The group also provided input on regional reform proposals and agreed to continue informal director coordination. Future meetings were proposed for spring and mid-2025.
