RA VI Task Team on HydroSOS Third Meeting - Highlights
The RA VI Task Team on HydroSOS convened to discuss key updates on membership, governance, technical developments, and future actions for advancing the HydroSOS initiative.
Key Outcomes:
🔹 Membership & Governance: The team confirmed its structure under the Coordination Panel on Hydrology. Peter Berg (Sweden) was welcomed as a new member. A Vice Leader for the team is still needed.
🔹 Technical Progress: Updates were provided on data pipeline development, metadata standardization, snow data integration, and the C3S Water Service Project (2024–2028), which will support global hydrological forecasting.
🔹 Regional Initiatives: The Sava River Basin is integrating HydroSOS into its flood forecasting system, with technical guidance required before key project milestones in March and May.
🔹 Action Plan & Next Steps: A dedicated HydroSOS Advisory Forum is scheduled for February 25, focusing on data sharing, governance, and collaboration with key stakeholders. A regional workshop is planned for late summer 2024.
The team emphasized improved coordination, clear data-sharing guidelines, and streamlined governance to support HydroSOS implementation across regions.
