New Coordinator Assumes Leadership of RA VI RCC Network
The WMO RA VI Regional Climate Centre (RCC) Network welcomes Dr Laura Lukassen as its new Coordinator. Laura succeeds Stefan Rösner and will lead the coordination of climate services across Europe, supporting RCC nodes in climate monitoring, forecasting, and data management.
Laura recently joined the Deutscher Wetterdienst (DWD) as Head of the Regional Climate Monitoring Unit. She brings a strong background in fluid dynamics, wind energy research, and previous leadership experience at the German Federal Statistical Office, combining technical expertise with management skills.
In her first RCC Coordination Team meeting on 30 September 2025, she set priorities for strategic planning, operational updates, and the continued development of climate services, including the transformation of Regional Climate Outlook Forums into broader Regional Climate Forums.
Her leadership marks a new chapter for the RA VI RCC Network, strengthening collaboration across Europe and advancing regional climate services and early warning capabilities.
