The 2025 WMO Monitoring Data Collection Campaign aims to gather up-to-date information from WMO Members to meet the Organization’s monitoring and reporting needs, particularly for strategic initiatives like Early Warnings for All.

The data collected will support global and national decision-making and strengthen National Meteorological and Hydrological Services (NMHSs).

Intended  Uses of  Collected Data
  • Strategic Monitoring: Track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and report on the WMO Strategic Plan through dashboards and the WMO Performance Assessment Report.
  • Early Warnings for All: Measure capacity gaps, progress, and inform the Global State of Multi-Hazard Early Warning Systems (MHEWS) Report.
  • WMO Strategic Country Hydromet Diagnostics (CHD): Provide data for peer advisers conducting strategic assessments of NMHSs to guide investments, such as through the SOFF initiative.
  • Member Profiles: Present essential country-specific data on capacity, performance and compliance in key strategic areas.
  • Regional Analysis: Support constituent body decision-making, including prioritization for the next Strategic Plan.

Note: For technical reasons, data on the Climate Services Checklist will be collected separately.

Approach
  • Consolidated set of thematic questionnaires: to streamline data collection and minimize the burden on Members by preventing duplicative surveys.
  • Structured for ease: The questionnaires are designed to facilitate internal data collection within NMHSs or national institutions.
  • Pre-populated data: The latest available data from the WMO Monitoring System will be pre-filled to reduce workload.
  • Accessible platform: Authorized PRs, Hydrological Advisers and designated M&E Focal Points can access the system using their  WMO Community Platform credentials.
