NEW: Provisional 2023 edition of the Guide to Instruments and Methods of Observation (WMO-No. 8)
Collaborative work of different expert teams and groups, together with the Editorial Board of the INFCOM/Standing Committee on Measurements, Instrumentation and Traceability resulted in the preliminary 2023 edition of the Guide to instruments and Methods of Observation (WMO-No. 8) (Volumes I, II, III, and V) that was available for the Members’ review.
During the Members’ review process, comments have been received from: China, Germany, Hong Kong (China), the Netherlands, UK, a few members of HMEI, and the GCW experts. The comments have been addressed by the INFCOM/SC-MINT/Editorial Board and relevant expert teams. Those simple, editorial comments have already been incorporated in the text of the provisional edition and are displayed in track-change mode, , highlighted yellow. More complex comments have been well noted and will be addressed by the relevant expert groups in the next intersessional period. For Chapter 3 of Volume II, all changes are presented in the track-change mode, because the version that was posted for Member’s review had no track changes as it was a new chapter.
The text of the Provisional 2023 Edition is accessbile in the table below. It is submitted to the second session of the Commission for Observation, Infrastructure and Information Systems (INFCOM-2) for approval.
Note: For the chapters not listed below, changes have not been proposed and the chapters will remain the same as in 2018 edition (updated in 2021).
